Follow-Up Appointments

After the initial appointment, it is recommended a client call back after seven days to briefly discuss their progress, to note any changes and to answer any questions.  Patients are encouraged to call the office with questions they may have at any time.  Because many people are sensitive, we tend go give more mild formulas the first appointment, to avoid a strong reaction.  If people are on multiple prescription medications, we also start with milder formulas to avoid possible drug interactions.

A follow up appointment should be scheduled three to four weeks after the initial visit.  At this time, the changes in health status from the previous visit will be noted.  The client will be completely re-assessed at this time and all changes will be noted.  TCM pulse and tongue assessment will be a main focus of judging constitution changes.  The formulas will be modified and strengthened to address all of the patient’s individual needs.

Herbal formulas and nutritional recommendations will likely be changed or slightly modified to fit the ever-changing needs of the patient.  Holistic healing is a very in-depth process that is similar to peeling an onion.  One slowly corrects the surface issues, as you continually look to address the deeper issues.  The unique needs of the body may change quickly, so the individualized program must be adjusted to ensure the body is adequately nourished on its path to true healing.  As many illnesses improve or go away completely, older illnesses from your past may resurface.  This is not an uncommon occurrence in the natural healing process, and it represents that next “layer of the onion that needs to be peeled away”.  There are usually physical, emotional, mental and sometime spiritual healing that patients find very exciting and encouraging.

In many ways, the process is completely different that western medicine.  In natural healing, we focus on working with surface (immediate concerns) and the root cause of disease at the same time.  Herbal formulas are amazingly complex and represent a time tested clinical approach to addressing your needs on all these levels simultaneously.

After the first follow-up appointment, it may not be necessary to return for a long period of time.  More difficult, chronic or serious cases will require a follow-up every month for at least the first three months.  The number of follow-up appointments will vary depending on the severity and difficulty of the case.  Extremely difficult cases may take 10 – 12 months to completely reverse.  Other diseases, such as diabetes and blood pressure may require routine follows whenever necessary based on medical testing results.  Results happen quicker with patients who are consistent with dosages, make dietary changes and are consistent with other lifestyle changes.

Even after achieving their health goals, many patients choose to see us every one or two months for a preventative health check up.  Herbal formulas can help address many areas after the main healing process has completed such as the following:  vitality, energy level, mood support, hormone balancing effects, stress support, immune strength, disease prevention, anti-aging/longevity and countless other life enhancing properties.
